These Sandhill Cranes are getting their last meal in before nightfall, as the last of the sunset reflects off the water. I captured this at the Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, located in central New Mexico, USA. Situated between the Chupadera Mountains to the west and the San Pascual Mountains to the east, the 57,331 acre Bosque del Apache was established in 1939 to provide a critical stopover site for migrating waterfowl. The refuge is well known for the tens of thousands of cranes, geese, and ducks who winter here each year. Over 30,000 acres of Bosque del Apache are designated wilderness.
Peter enjoys finding new places to explore and to capturing both the beauty and the feeling of the places he explores. His art has graced the halls of American Embassies around the world, airports and businesses. He continues to travel the world with his very patient wife Megan at his side.
